Dr. Wayne Searcy

Dr. Searcy, a Kansas native, received his DVM from Kansas State University in 1977. After graduation, his job search led him to northwestern Iowa. His plan was to stay for a couple years and gain some experience before heading back to Kansas. In 2014, he still hasn't made it back to Kansas... Doc resides in Sioux Center with his wife, Donna. They have two grown daughters who are both married with children. In his free time away from the clinic, Doc enjoys restoring old tractors and cars as well as visiting his grandchildren and other family as he is able.

Dr. Megan Smith
 
Interests: Cow-calf herd health, equine wellness and medicine, small animal wellness, public health and education
 

Dr. Smith is a South Dakota native from the Black Hills area. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Iowa State University in 2005. After a year in graduate school, she entered veterinary school at Iowa State where she completed her DVM in 2011. After graduation, Dr. Smith spent two more years in Ames working at the Center for Food Security and Public Health where she developed educational and training materials for a variety of audiences including industry and government personnel. She joined SCVC/IVS in January of 2014. Dr. Smith resides in Ireton with her two dogs. She enjoys spending time with her 10 year old daughter, riding horses, motorcycles and roadbikes, as well as hiking, fishing and hunting.

Dr. Cari Van Zweden
 
Interests: Beef cattle medicine, calf wellness and development

Dr. Van Zweden grew up locally in Rock Valley. She began working at SCVC when she was in high school and it became her dream to return someday as a veterinarian. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from South Dakota State University in 2009. Following, she attended the University of Missouri - Columbia where she received her DVM in 2013.  Dr. Van Zweden resides near Ireton with her husband Josh, two dogs, Zola and Charlie, and a plethora of farm cats. The Van Zwedens are expecting their first child Spring 2014.

Dr. Jesus Diaz
 
Interests: Beef cattle reproduction

Dr. Diaz grew up in Mexico. After high school he came to NW Iowa and gained some experience on a dairy. He decided he wanted to pursue his veterinary medicine degree and return to the area. Dr. Diaz has been with SCVC since 2009. He lives in Sioux Center with his wife, Rocio, and their son. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and working on home improvement projects.
